Alfred is an Android app that turns your phones or tablets into an IP Camera.

If you have spare or unused (no longer used) Android phones/tablets at home, then Alfred can cut your budget for security cameras.

To setup Alfred is easy. All you need is minimum 2 Android devices and a Google account. 1 will be used as the camera, while the other 1 will be used as the viewer, both devices need to login to same Google account and voila! Your IP camera setup is done.

Other amazing features on Alfred:

• Supports multiple viewer and multiple cameras. Just make sure they are on the same Google account
• Works on both WiFi or 3G/4G
• Supports two-way communication features, so that you can sing to your baby while he is crying, or warn the trespasser while he is trespassing your house
• Supports motion detection, when activated and when motion is detected, Alfred will straight away send you email containing link where you can see all the images that Alfred captured

Current version varies between devices, however the app requires Android 2.3 (GingerBread) and up.

SalientEye Home Security Alarm is a solution for your home security by utilizing your Android-powered devices.

SalientEye has the following main features:

• Detect motion: the sensitivity is configurable: low, medium and high
• Alarm a sound when detect motion
• Send SMS when detect motion
• Send email when detect motion

The setup is pretty simple, first time using the app, you will be asked to key in password to disarm the app.
By default, SalientEye only activates the alarm feature.
If you want SMS and Email, you need to key in your phone number and your email address.
Once they are setup, click on the camera/eye logo to start the motion detection.
By default, the app will give 30 seconds of time for you to leave the room/house and after 30 seconds, it will start the motion detection and will - depends on your setup - raise alarm or send sms or send email whenever it detects motion.

What's great is, SalientEye works with Android 2.2 and above. So if you have spare Android device, you can use it and turn it into your home security alarm.
